Amman, Nov. 17 (Petra) – The Lower House of Parliament approved, by a majority vote, the amended draft law for the National Service and Reserve Service Law of 2025, as submitted by the government.

This occurred during a legislative session held on Monday, chaired by Speaker Mazen Qadi and attended by Prime Minister Jafar Hassan and members of the government team. The session lasted four hours, during which 97 members of parliament spoke.

His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II announced the reactivation of the National Service Program (conscription) last August during a meeting with young men and women from Irbid Governorate.

Prime Minister Jafar Hassan said in a previous statement that the draft law for National Service and Reserve Service would be among the government's legislative priorities in the coming period, in preparation for the program's implementation at the beginning of February of next year.

The Cabinet, in a session held on September 14, 2025, chaired by Prime Minister Jafar Hassan, approved a draft amendment to the National Service and Reserve Service Law of 2025, to be sent to the Lower House of Parliament in accordance with constitutional procedures, to be presented as soon as the next parliamentary session is convened.
