Amman, Nov. 11 (Petra) – Minister of Labor Khaled Bakar on Tuesday said Jordanians' recruitement at companies operating in the Attarat site in southern Jordan is a "key priority" for the ministry.
During a meeting at his office with Attarat Power Company (APCO) CEO Jason Pok, attended by Secretary General Abdulhalim Dujan, Bakar urged all subcontractors to commit to hiring Jordanians in the project.
Bakar also noted approvals for recruiting non-Jordanian workers will be limited to specialized skills that are unavailable locally.
The minister and the APCO officials agreed to ensure Jordanians are hired by any new subcontractor, who will be awarded tenders at the project site, stressing the importance of continuous follow-up on this commitment.
On future steps, Bakar instructed the ministry's central inspection and the labor relations directorates to intensify monitoring over companies operating at the site to ensure compliance with employment of Jordanians, particularly when a subcontractor is replaced.
The meeting was attended by several officials from Attarat Power Company, as well as Haitham Najdawi, Director of the Inspection Directorate, and Adnan Dahamsheh, Director of the Ministry's Labor Relations Directorate //Petra// NQ
