King receives UK FM

Amman, Nov. 4 (Petra) -- His Majesty King Abdullah II on Tuesday received UK Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs Yvette Cooper.
The meeting, attended by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, covered the deep-rooted ties between Jordan and the UK, as well as ways to enhance cooperation, particularly in trade, industry, and defence fields.
Speaking about developments in the region, His Majesty called for committing to implementing the agreement to end the war in Gaza, and to intensify international efforts to provide humanitarian aid to the Strip.
The King warned of the dangerous escalations against Palestinians in the West Bank, and the violations of Muslim and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.
His Majesty noted the United Kingdom’s vital role in efforts to restore calm and achieve peace in the region, expressing appreciation of the UK’s decision in September to recognise the State of Palestine.
The King also highlighted the importance of supporting Syria and Lebanon’s efforts to maintain their security, stability, and territorial sovereignty.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, and Director of the Office of His Majesty Alaa Batayneh attended the meeting.
