Tokyo, Nov. 11 (Petra) -- His Majesty King Abdullah II held separate meetings on Tuesday with Japan’s Speaker of the House of Representatives Nukaga Fukushiro, President of the House of Councillors Sekiguchi Masakazu, and Chairman of the Japan-Jordan Parliamentary Friendship Association Tanaka Kazunori.

The meetings, held in Tokyo, addressed bilateral relations and the latest regional developments.

His Majesty stressed the strength of Jordan and Japan’s strategic partnership, and commitment on both sides to advancing it, particularly in parliamentary affairs.

The meetings also touched on economic and development projects implemented by Japan in Jordan, with the King expressing appreciation for Japan’s support.

His Majesty affirmed Jordan’s commitment to moving forward with its Economic Modernisation Vision, which aims to boost growth and create jobs, highlighting the incentives the Kingdom offers to encourage investment.

The meetings touched on the latest developments in the region, with the King stressing the need to ensure adherence to the agreement to end the war on Gaza, and amplify the humanitarian response. His Majesty praised Japan’s support for these efforts.

During the meeting, attended by His Royal Highness Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad, His Majesty’s chief adviser for religious and cultural affairs and personal envoy, the King warned of the dangers of attacks on Palestinians in the West Bank, and violations against Muslim and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, stressing that the only way to end conflict in the region is through just and comprehensive peace on the basis of the two-state solution.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Director of the Office of His Majesty Alaa Batayneh, Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Zeina Toukan, and Jordan’s Ambassador to Japan Nasser Shraideh attended the meeting.
