Amman, Sept 16 (Petra) – The Ministry of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs welcomed Luxembourg’s announcement of its intention to recognize the State of Palestine during the upcoming United Nations General Assembly meetings in New York, describing it as an important step toward ending the occupation and implementing a two-state solution.
The ministry’s spokesperson, Fouad Al-Majali, affirmed Jordan’s appreciation for this move, noting that it aligns with international efforts to secure wider recognition of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with the two-state solution, UN resolutions, and the Arab Peace Initiative.
Al-Majali reiterated Jordan’s firm stance on working with brothers and international partners to support the Palestinian people’s right to freedom, justice, self-determination, and the establishment of an independent state on their national territory.
