Amman, Dec. 30 (Petra) - The Ministry of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs called for urgent international intervention to tackle the severe humanitarian crisis in Gaza, worsened by harsh weather conditions and ongoing Israeli restrictions on aid delivery. The ministry demanded that Israel remove all barriers to ensure the immediate, sufficient, and sustained flow of humanitarian assistance to the territory.
Ministry spokesperson Fouad Al-Majali highlighted that the humanitarian situation in Gaza is unprecedented, resulting from extensive destruction caused by Israeli attacks and the continued prevention of adequate humanitarian aid. He emphasized that immediate international action is needed to compel Israel to open crossings and allow timely delivery of necessary assistance across the Gaza Strip.
Al-Majali stressed the need for Israel to comply with its obligations under international law and international humanitarian law. He urged Israel to allow unimpeded humanitarian access and to facilitate aid programs, including those provided by United Nations agencies, particularly the U.N. relief agency for Palestinians (UNRWA), and international non-governmental organizations. He added that these entities must be enabled to deliver assistance to Palestinians throughout the sector, especially in light of the critically difficult conditions.
