Amman, September 16 (Petra) – The Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA), in cooperation with the World Health Organisation (WHO), held specialised technical sessions to support the JFDA's efforts toward obtaining WHO accreditation.

The sessions are part of ongoing collaboration and technical support provided by the WHO to enhance Jordan's national regulatory and oversight systems for medicines and vaccines.

JFDA Director General Rana Obeidat affirmed the agency's commitment to achieving an advanced level of regulatory maturity in line with the WHO's global programme for strengthening national oversight frameworks.

She emphasised that these efforts align with Jordan's vision for economic modernisation.

Obeidat noted that the JFDA has entered an intensive preparation phase for the accreditation process. Achieving WHO accreditation, she said, will significantly enhance the efficiency and capacity of the agency's technical and regulatory infrastructure.

This progress is expected to contribute to strengthening national pharmaceutical security, boosting exports to international markets and supporting the broader national economy.

She praised the strong partnership with the WHO, which has supported the JFDA in reviewing operational procedures, developing a comprehensive improvement plan, conducting gap analyses and building institutional capacity all in accordance with WHO standards and recommendations.

WHO experts from the global, regional and country offices participated in the sessions remotely, working closely with the JFDA team to advance the agency’s readiness for accreditation.
