Amman, Sept. 22 (Petra) – Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) on Monday announced the launch of the "future leaders" development program, aimed at training a new generation of second- and third-tier employees to lead the municipality with efficiency in line with international standards and job competencies, in line with His Majesty King Abdullah’s vision and the requirements of administrative modernization.
The program seeks to empower emerging leaders through specialized training focused on strategic management, digital transformation, innovation and good governance to ensure institutional sustainability and support sustainable development in the capital.
It targets 150 employees from across the municipality’s sectors, based on strict criteria including outstanding performance, leadership qualities, development proposals and approved assessments.
The initiative is designed to strengthen human capital as a sustainable strategic asset for the municipality, instill a culture of innovation and digital transformation across sectors, establish administrative modernization as an institutional approach, and enhance the municipality’s ability to adapt to technological, environmental and economic shifts locally and globally. It aims to secure institutional sustainability by developing a pool of qualified successors ready for top-level leadership, positioning the municipality among leading global public-sector institutions in leadership development.
The program will be rolled out in several stages beginning with preparation and launch. Applications open on Oct. 1 and close on Nov. 1, with final results announced on Feb. 1. Training will start on March 1 and extend over three years, covering modern leadership and management fundamentals in the first year, technical specializations and digital transformation in the second year, and practical projects and leadership simulations in the third.
The final stage will include evaluation and follow-up through individual competency profiles for each participant, performance indicators and semi-annual progress reports.
By the end of the program, the municipality expects to have prepared alternative leaders ready for senior posts, raised managerial and technical competencies to a higher level, and integrated 150 proposed development projects from participants into its plans, while boosting readiness to achieve sustainable development with qualified national talent.
