Amman, Nov. 13 (Petra)-- The Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission (EMRC) has been awarded the international ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certification for its Information Security Management System (ISMS), after successfully passing an external audit conducted by TÜV AUSTRIA.

The audit included a comprehensive review of the Commission’s policies, procedures, and operational processes to verify their compliance with the latest international standards and best practices.

The Chairperson of the Board of Commissioners, Ziad Al-Saaydeh, affirmed that this international accreditation reflects the EMRC’s leading position as a regulatory and supervisory authority that keeps pace with global developments in digital transformation and information security.

He emphasized that it also demonstrates the Commission’s commitment to implementing the highest standards of efficiency and transparency to ensure the continuity, quality, and protection of its services.

Al-Saaydeh added that obtaining this certification crowns the efforts of the Commission’s staff particularly the Information Technology Directorate who implemented the Information Security Management System in accordance with the latest version of the international standard, aligning with global best practices in risk management and strengthening the cybersecurity framework across the sector.

The certificate was officially presented on Thursday at the EMRC headquarters in Amman, in the presence of the Austrian Consul and representatives of the certification company.

The audit confirmed that all adopted systems and procedures meet the requirements of the 2022 version of the standard. The certification scope covers IT assets and services, with rigorous controls and procedures established for incident management and data protection, ensuring the delivery of secure and reliable services within the energy and minerals sector.

It is worth noting that ISO/IEC 27001:2022 is the latest edition of the international standard issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). It serves as a global benchmark for developing integrated systems to safeguard information, manage cyber risks, and enhance trust in the digital environment.
