Amman, Sept. 22 (Petra) – The Jordan Armed Forces (JAF)-Arab Army has decided to move the Jordanian field hospital from Tel Al-Hawa to Khan Yunis in the Gaza Strip to protect the safety of its personnel amid deteriorating surrounding conditions.
A military source stated that the hospital’s vicinity had been subjected to continuous shelling and intensive building explosions in recent weeks, causing damage to the facility’s facades, scattering debris, and impairing some medical equipment and services.
The source added that patient visits had sharply declined, leaving the hospital isolated and non-operational due to ongoing events. The relocation is intended to maintain access to care for the largest possible number of Gaza residents, especially amid overcrowding in other medical facilities.
The move aims to sustain Jordan’s medical efforts in Gaza, ensuring continued services for patients and the injured.
The source emphasized that the hospital had served the community for over 16 years at Tel Al-Hawa, but the current conditions no longer permit it to fulfill its mission. The Armed Forces remain ready to return to Tel Al-Hawa if circumstances allow.
The hospital had previously been directly targeted at the outset of the Gaza conflict, temporarily halting operations before resuming services under improved conditions and prior directives to continue its work.
