Amman, Nov. 2 (Petra) -- The Amman Chamber of Commerce and the Jordanian-Emirati Business Women Council on Sunday signed a memorandum of understanding to strengthen cooperation and partnership between businesswomen in Jordan and the United Arab Emirates.

The agreement, signed by Chamber President Khalil Haj Tawfiq and Council Chairperson Amal Hadabi, aims to facilitate collaboration in areas including information exchange, investment opportunities, and joint projects.

According to a Chamber statement, the memorandum provides for the exchange of reports, studies, and relevant data, the preparation of joint research, invitations for delegation visits, and proposals to address challenges affecting bilateral trade. It also calls for joint initiatives to enhance economic and commercial awareness among members, educational campaigns, training programs, exhibitions, and the promotion of innovation and creative skills through institutional partnerships.

Haj Tawfiq emphasized that the memorandum marks a new chapter in activating partnerships and launching initiatives to serve women in the commercial and service sectors. He noted that ongoing collaboration will facilitate the exchange of expertise, expand investment opportunities, and reflects the strength of Jordanian-Emirati relations. He described the partnership as a strategic step toward women’s economic empowerment and sustainable regional cooperation.

He also highlighted plans for sectoral meetings and business forums bringing together business people from both countries, aimed at exploring investment opportunities, fostering direct communication, and developing joint entrepreneurial projects that support the Jordanian and Emirati economies.

Hadabi expressed pride in the deep-rooted ties between Jordan and the UAE and underscored the importance of unifying efforts to enhance the role of Arab women in the economic sector. She noted that the memorandum provides a platform for exchanging expertise, participating in joint programs, and supporting skill development among members.

She revealed that the Council plans to hold a conference on "Artificial Intelligence, Women, and Entrepreneurship" in Amman next April, the first of its kind in Jordan, with a subsequent edition to be held in the UAE. The Council also intends to establish an honorary advisory board comprising prominent business figures and representatives from both public and private sectors to promote joint economic initiatives and women’s empowerment in the Arab business environment.

Statistics from the Amman Chamber of Commerce indicate that 3,298 individual establishments are registered under women’s ownership, while women partners in establishments and companies number 10,806.
