Amman, Dec. 17 (Petra) – Chairman of Amman Chamber of Commerce (ACC), Khalil Haj Tawfiq, called for establishing a Jordanian-Azerbaijani Business Council to coordinate efforts between businesspeople and promote joint projects and investments.

Haj Tawfiq, during his meeting at the chamber's headquarters with Azerbaijan Ambassador to Jordan, Shahin Abdullayev, emphasized the importance of intensifying reciprocal visits between the two countries' delegations and trade missions, as a "fundamental" step for developing economic relations.

According to an ACC statement issued Wednesday, Haj Tawfiq pointed to the necessity of holding a joint economic forum with the participation of representatives from the private sector and investors, aimed to enhance direct communication, explore investment opportunities, open new cooperation horizons and build sustainable economic partnerships.

Haj Tawfiq noted these steps would follow a series of virtual meetings, focusing on vital sectors including tourism, food, services, information technology, energy, and pharmaceutical industries.

He stressed the importance of building on the outcomes of the meetings of the Jordanian-Azerbaijani Joint Committee for Trade, Economic, and Technical Cooperation and mechanisms for transforming signed memos and agreements into tangible investment opportunities.

He emphasized the need to increase Azerbaijani investments in Jordan, given the Kingdom's "attractive and secure" investment environment, the new Investment Law that offers numerous priviliges and incentives, and the "promising" opportunities created by the Economic Modernization Vision across various sectors.

He called for strengthening economic cooperation between the two countries' private sectors and opening new avenues for participation in reconstruction projects in Syria, which would contribute to enhancing regional economic development and creating joint investment opportunities.

For his part, Abdullayev praised the "distinguished" level of bilateral relations in various fields, affirming the embassy's commitment to continuing its efforts to strengthen joint economic and trade cooperation.

The diplomat called for developing a "new" framework and a "clear" roadmap for economic relations between Jordan and Azerbaijan, focusing on expanding cooperation in the tourism, energy, and food sectors, which would open "fresh" horizons for investment and sustainable trade partnerships.

The diplomat noted the two countries possess "promising" opportunities to propel joint cooperation to achieve a sustainable economic future and leverage the supportive legal and legislative framework and the role of the Jordanian-Azerbaijani Joint Committee in mutually coordinating efforts and facilitating initiatives.

Meanwhile, ACC Second Deputy Chairman, Bahjat Hamdan, indicated that the tourism sector represents a "key" pillar in strengthening bilateral relations, stressing the importance of continued joint meetings and coordination to enhance tourism cooperation.

In turn, ACC Board Member Falah Saghir said "the commercial and service sectors value any efforts that would strengthen bilateral relations with Azerbaijan by exchanging trade delegations to explore new markets, establish relationships, and expand the horizons of joint cooperation, especially in the services, consulting, and communications technology fields." //Petra// AG
