Amman, Nov. 11 (Petra) – The Agricultural Credit Corporation (ACC) and the World Food Programme (WFP) on Tuesday launched a credit and loan initiative to support Jordan's sustainable agriculture and empower farmers.
The event was held under the patronage of ACC Director General Muhammad Dojan and WFP Programs Director Nona Wrang.
The initiative aims to expand farmers’ access to Islamic-compliant finance products, which would enhance the resilience of agricultural projects to address effects of climate change and support the transition to modern and sustainable farming practices.
During the launching ceremony, both officials said the initiative represents a "strategic" step toward empowering agricultural communities and strengthening their capacity to adapt to environmental challenges, by providing innovative financial tools that optimize resource use and boost productivity.
The ACC and WFP added that the initiative also serves as a "comprehensive" platform to empower women and youth in the Kingdom's agricultural sector by offering financing and training opportunities, enabling them to launch "entrepreneurial" projects and adopt modern technologies, which would ensure their "active" participation in Jordan's rural development and food security.
