Amman, Sep. 16 (Petra) – Ministers of Agriculture, Dr. Saeb Khreisat, and Environment, Dr. Ayman Suleiman, on Tuesday toured the project of Permanent Exhibition of Badia and Rural Products in Amman to check on progress of construction works at its facilities.

The project is funded by the Badia Rehabilitation/Environmental Compensation Programme and implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

The two ministers, in the presence of UNDP Resident Representative Randa Abu Al-Hassan, inspected the exhibition venues and progress of construction work and building equipment.

The new facility was designed, based on green building specifications by using renewable energy, reusing graywater, and sorting and recycling non-hazardous waste to meet needs of people with disabilities.

Khreisat and Suleiman were briefed by UNDP representatives about the project's implementation phases and use of green building standards and specifications.

The duo praised construction procedures, which reflect Jordanian heritage and serve a number of households in underprivileged rural and desert communities by providing job opportunities.

The ministers added that this step will reflect "positively on income of productive families, solve problem of surplus cooperative products, improve the economic conditions of cooperatives and households, support home production, market local products, and network with larger markets.

Additionally, they called for expediting the project's preparations to serve Jordan's rural and desert communities and achieve sustainable economic, environmental, and social development in line with the Economic Modernization Vision.

The exhibition, launched on 8 dunams plot owned by Ministry of Agriculture, houses training halls and venues to display products, as well as shops, gardens, children's playgrounds, parking lots, and restaurants.
