Amman, Dec. 15 (Petra) -- A relatively cold weather pattern prevails across most regions on Monday, with clouds appearing at various altitudes.

By evening, the country is expected to gradually come under the influence of a low-pressure system centered over Cyprus, leading to increasing cloud cover and the onset of rainfall across northern and central areas, as well as parts of the southwestern regions. Rain is forecast to extend later into parts of the eastern areas. Winds will be moderate and westerly, becoming active at times.

During the night, conditions will turn colder and wetter, with intermittent rainfall affecting most regions. Some showers may become heavy at times in western areas and could be accompanied by thunder and hail, raising the risk of flash floods in valleys and low-lying areas, including the Jordan Valley and the Dead Sea. Winds will shift between westerly and northwesterly and remain moderate, strengthening occasionally.

The Jordan Meteorological Department has issued warnings of reduced visibility due to fog, particularly over high mountain areas, along with the risk of flash floods during nighttime hours in valleys and low-lying regions in the western parts of the country, including the Jordan Valley and the Dead Sea. Thunderstorms are also possible.

A further drop in temperatures is expected on Tuesday, with cold, cloudy, and rainy conditions continuing at intervals across most regions. Rainfall may become heavy at times and could again be accompanied by thunder and hail, increasing the risk of flooding. Fog is likely to form in several areas, especially over highlands and plains. Winds will remain moderate from the west to northwest, becoming active at times.

Another slight decrease in temperatures is forecast for Wednesday. Cold and foggy conditions will dominate, with skies ranging from partly cloudy to cloudy. Scattered showers are expected at intervals, particularly in southern and eastern regions, sometimes accompanied by thunder. Rain chances are expected to weaken gradually during the evening and nighttime hours. Winds will be moderate and northwesterly, becoming active at times.

On Thursday, cold conditions will persist across most regions, while milder weather is expected in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba. Some high clouds will appear, and northwesterly winds will blow at moderate speeds.

Monday’s temperatures range between 14 C and 8 C in East Amman and 12 C and 6 C in West Amman. The northern highlands are forecast at 11 C–6 C, the Sharah highlands at 12 C–5 C, desert regions at 16 C–6 C, and the plains at 15 C–7 C.

In the Jordan Valley, temperatures will reach 20 C–12 C in the north and 22 C–14 C in the south, while the Dead Sea is expected at 21 C–13 C and Aqaba at 22 C–13 C.
