Amman, Dec. 12 (Petra)-- The Ministry of Local Administration announced that it handled 90 complaints and observations from Thursday through Friday morning as a result of the recent weather conditions. All cases were addressed in record time through direct coordination with municipalities, joint services councils, municipal affairs directorates, and other relevant bodies, as part of the ministry’s declared state of emergency to enhance preparedness and field response.

In a press statement issued Friday, the ministry said the most prominent reports involved rising water levels in several streets, all of which were resolved. In Wastiyyah Municipality, crews responded to the collapse of a well in the town of Houfa, handling the incident safely. Balama Municipality addressed a road subsidence near Al-Naeem Mosque and secured the area after repairs.

In Manshiyet Bani Hassan, teams managed another road subsidence. Several vehicles stuck due to weather conditions were also towed with support from Al-Khalidiyah Municipality.

Meanwhile, Al-Shouna Al-Wusta Municipality dealt with the collapse of a house in the Karameh area, evacuating residents in cooperation with the governor. In Ma’adh Bin Jabal Municipality, authorities responded to the collapse of a two-story building after safely evacuating its occupants.

Jabal Bani Hamida Municipality reported rockslides along the Zara road that disrupted traffic; specialized teams cleared the debris and reopened the route.

Emergency crews also handled reports from the Muwaqqar, Kafarat, Deiseh, Karak, Ai, and Irbid municipalities. In the Southern Ghor Municipality, teams responded to multiple cases of rising water levels, pumping water and reopening affected streets. In Ghor Al-Mazraa, crews resolved water buildup in three streets and secured them.

The ministry affirmed that it continues to monitor the situation closely and remains in direct coordination with municipalities and emergency teams around the clock to ensure maximum readiness and rapid response, safeguarding citizens and their property throughout the weather event.

The ministry noted that earlier on Wednesday based on forecasts from the Jordan Meteorological Department and the early warning system it had issued alerts regarding a coming low-pressure system accompanied by heavy thunderstorms in specific areas. These warnings were circulated to municipalities, directorates, councils, and relevant agencies, emphasizing the need to elevate preparedness and conduct field inspections of critical locations.
