Amman, December 8 (Petra) -- His Majesty King Abdullah II received Prime Minister of Albania Edi Rama on Monday, according to a royal court statement. During a bilateral meeting followed by an expanded one, held at Al Husseiniya Palace and attended by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, His Majesty praised the long-standing ties between Jordan and Albania, and emphasised the Kingdom’s readiness to expand cooperation across various fields, particularly economic and defence ones.

The King noted the importance of joint efforts to promote interfaith dialogue, which will be the focus of a new round of the Aqaba Process meetings to be hosted by Jordan tomorrow, in partnership with Albania. His Majesty also commended Albania’s role in co-chairing this round.

The meeting attended by His Royal Highness Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad, His Majesty’s chief adviser for religious and cultural affairs and personal envoy also touched on recent regional developments, with the King emphasising the importance of intensifying international efforts to restore stability in the region and respect the sovereignty of countries.

His Majesty underscored that the two-state solution is the only way to achieve just and comprehensive peace, stressing the need to support Palestinians in obtaining their full legitimate rights.

Speaking about Gaza, the King reiterated the need for all parties to adhere to the agreement to end the war, and to step up efforts to deliver humanitarian aid to all areas of the Strip.

His Majesty also warned of the danger of continued escalations in the West Bank, and violations of Muslim and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.

Prime Minister Jafar Hassan, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Director of the Office of His Majesty Alaa Batayneh, Albania’s Ambassador to Jordan Sami Shiba, and the accompanying Albanian delegation attended the meeting.
