Amman, December 7 (Petra) -- His Majesty King Abdullah II attended an event at the Amman Chamber of Industry on Sunday that showcased achievements of Jordan’s industrial sector during 2025, reflecting its continued growth in manufacturing exports, according to a royal court statement. During the ceremony, His Majesty presented commemorative shields to a number of institutions, companies, and individuals selected by the Chamber of Industry, in recognition of their efforts in supporting national exports and promoting their presence in foreign markets.

Jordanian industrial exports exceeded JD5.5 billion this year, accounting for about 91 per cent of total national exports. The sector witnessed remarkable growth in strategic sub-industries, such as chemicals, pharmaceuticals, food, engineering, and textiles.

The event celebrated Jordan’s accession this year to the Pharmaceutical Inspection Cooperation Scheme PIC/S, reflecting the Jordan Food and Drug Administration’s commitment to maintaining the highest standards of quality and drug control, enhancing the competitiveness of national exports, and opening new markets for Jordanian pharmaceuticals.

At the Amman Chamber of Industry, the King was briefed by Chamber Director Nael Al Husami on the sector’s most significant milestones, and viewed a mural depicting the history of Jordanian industry.

In his speech during the event, President of the Jordan and Amman Chambers of Industry Fathi Jaghbir said Jordan’s industrial sector maintained its leading regional position in terms of its contribution to the gross domestic product, with a direct contribution of around 25 per cent.

Jaghbir said Jordanian exports have reached more than 150 markets around the world, with a focus on non-traditional markets in Asia, Africa and Latin America, building on His Majesty’s foreign tours to strengthen trade relations, noting that exports have grown by 39 per cent over the past four years.

He highlighted efforts to develop the sector through investment in research and development, and the use of technology, noting that the Chamber of Industry is working to establish a company specialising in the manufacture of semiconductors to keep pace with global industrial and technological developments.

For his part, Jordan Chamber of Commerce President Khalil Al Haj Tawfiq said the Jordanian economy is based on a cohesive fabric of industry, trade, services and agriculture, noting that thanks to this integration, Jordan has been able to turn obstacles into opportunities and prove the credibility and quality of Jordanian products.

Tawfiq highlighted the capacity of the services, industry and agriculture sectors to increase exports, based on cooperation between the government and chambers of commerce, to make Jordan a regional hub for re-export and reconstruction, and for the Kingdom to become an export gateway to the region.

He added that the private sector views the Economic Modernisation Vision as the first comprehensive national project to bring together the public and private sectors under one umbrella, stressing that further success requires continued teamwork.

The King toured an industrial exhibition of Jordanian companies and factories operating in various sectors, and was briefed on efforts to enhance the competitiveness of national products.

His Majesty also visited the Jordan Industry 4.0 and Digitalisation Innovation Centre (InJo4.0) at the Chamber’s headquarters, and was briefed by Innovation Engineer Danah Al Qada about the centre, which aims to accelerate the adoption of digital and technological solutions in the industrial sector to increase productivity and enhance competitiveness.
