Amman, Dec. 22 (Petra) – The Jordanian Nursing Council discussed avenues for enhancing cooperation and exchanging expertise with the Karbala Nursing Syndicate in Iraq, with a focus on capacity building and professional development for nursing personnel.
In a statement issued Monday, the council said its Secretary-General Hani Nawafleh, during talks at the council’s headquarters with Head of the Karbala Nursing Syndicate and Undersecretary of the Ministry of Youth in Karbala Muhammad Khaldi, said the visit reflects the deep-rooted relations between Jordan and Iraq.
Nawafleh said the nursing profession constitutes a core pillar in advancing healthcare systems, noting that investment in nursing capacity building directly enhances the quality of healthcare services. He highlighted the council’s interest in expanding Arab partnerships and exchanging best professional practices.
Discussions covered the exchange of expertise in developing legislation governing the nursing profession. The Jordanian experience in regulating nursing practice and updating legislative frameworks was reviewed, including linking legislation to professional competencies and defined scopes of practice to ensure quality performance and sound governance.
Both sides said that advancing nursing legislation is essential to empowering nurses, safeguarding the profession, and strengthening its role within healthcare systems. They noted that sharing legislative expertise contributes to building more efficient and sustainable regulatory frameworks in both countries.
The meeting also addressed the importance of promoting a culture of clinical simulation as a modern training approach for preparing and qualifying nursing staff, given its role in enhancing clinical readiness, developing practical skills, and supporting safe, competency-based practice in line with professional standards.
