Amman, Sept. 9 (Petra)-- Minister of Social Development Wafaa Bani Mustafa took part in the launch of the regional report "In Search of Justice," held in Cairo on Tuesday at the invitation of the Arab Women Organization and co-organized with Equality Now.

In her speech at the event, which brought together experts, academics, and representatives of civil society organizations as well as regional and international bodies, Bani Mustafa said that "In Search of Justice" is not only a legal issue but also a long human journey to safeguard dignity and ensure the rights of women and girls.

She stressed that violence against women is a global concern, particularly the severe conditions faced by women and girls in conflict zones such as Gaza, the West Bank, and Sudan.

The minister highlighted Jordan’s efforts aligned with justice and equality principles through the adoption of national strategies on social protection and women’s empowerment. She said these reflect clear political will and a firm commitment to international conventions, noting that reform extends beyond legislation to embed a culture of fairness and long-term justice, including improved procedures and case management approaches in handling survivors of violence.

She pointed to constitutional amendments that strengthened equality, giving special emphasis to family and women, ensuring equal opportunities and protecting women from violence and discrimination.

Bani Mustafa also referred to Jordan’s laws on family protection, child rights, personal status, anti-human trafficking, and labor law amendments, in addition to regulations that enhanced women’s economic participation and family cohesion.

She emphasized that "In Search of Justice" means ensuring that no woman or girl remains outside legal protection, that laws close gaps allowing impunity, and that reform builds transparent and responsive institutions while reinforcing the role of civil society in driving positive change.

Concluding her remarks, Bani Mustafa affirmed Jordan’s ongoing commitment to advancing justice and equality and remaining an active partner in regional and international efforts to promote women’s and girls’ rights, stressing that fair and inclusive societies form the foundation for sustainable development and socio-economic and political stability.
