Jordan, Netherlands Discuss Expanding Defense Cooperation

Amman, Nov. 3 (Petra) – Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Maj. Gen. Yousef Ahmad Huneiti on Monday received Dutch Minister of Defense Ruben Brekelmans and his accompanying delegation at the General Command headquarters.

An official military ceremony was held for the visiting minister, who reviewed the guard of honor.

Talks focused on ways to strengthen military cooperation between the Jordan Armed Forces–Arab Army and the Dutch Armed Forces, with an emphasis on expanding joint training programs, exchanging expertise, and enhancing interoperability to bolster the two countries’ defense capabilities.

The two sides also reviewed regional and international developments and the evolving security challenges in the Middle East, underscoring the importance of continued coordination to promote regional stability.

Huneiti and Brekelmans were briefed on the latest advances within the Jordan Armed Forces, including defense modernization efforts, humanitarian operations in the West Bank and Gaza, and current training and capacity-building programs aimed at improving readiness and operational effectiveness.

Maj. Gen. Huneiti reaffirmed the depth of defense ties between Jordan and the Netherlands, describing their partnership as a model of effective military cooperation in support of international peace and security.

Brekelmans commended Jordan’s humanitarian role under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, particularly its efforts to deliver aid to Gaza, and praised the professionalism of the Jordan Armed Forces and its contributions to regional security.

The visit concluded with the Dutch minister signing the guestbook at the General Command headquarters.
