Amman, Nov. 12 (Petra) – The Higher Council for Science and Technology (HCST) and Egypt’s Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (ASRT), signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening cooperation in scientific research, technological development, and innovation.

The agreement was signed on the sidelines of the first Arab Conference for Science, Technology, and Innovation Observatories, held in Cairo.

The MoU was signed by the Council’s Secretary General, Mashhour Refai, and Acting President of the Academy, Gina El-Feky, in the presence of Secretary-General of the Federation of Arab Scientific Research Councilsat the Arab League, Abdelmajid BenAmara.

The memorandum aims to exchange expertise, develop joint technological platforms, and enhance cooperation in scientific research and innovation. It also reinforces the role of research institutions in Jordan and Egypt as a practical model of Arab integration in science, technology, and innovation, in line with the Arab Council’s vision to build a comprehensive and sustainable Arab research ecosystem.

Refai said the MoU lays a solid foundation for a comprehensive framework of cooperation between the two countries, contributing to the exchange of knowledge and expertise, and supporting joint research projects in national priority areas that serve economic and social development.

Proposed areas of cooperation include joint scientific projects, researcher exchanges, regular updates of research priorities, co-funding of research programs, and organizing exchange visits, conferences, and workshops to share knowledge and experience.

The partnership will also cover knowledge transfer, best practices in research management and technology transfer, and the creation of shared databases and information platforms to facilitate research collaboration.

It aims to enhance innovation and entrepreneurship and promote stronger links between academia and industry to align research with market needs, while fostering scientific and research integration between the two sides.
