Jerash, Dec. 9 (Petra) - The Jerash Governorate said it plans to launch a market named Nahr Al Thahab (The Gold River) in partnership with the Jerash Municipality and in cooperation with the Jerash Tourism Directorate and the Governorate Police as part of efforts to strengthen the city’s tourism identity and expand family-oriented tourism offerings.

Jerash Governor Malik Khreisat said the market aims to provide a recreational and cultural space that allows families and visitors to enjoy Jerash’s distinctive atmosphere, while enabling local community members to showcase their products and highlight initiatives that help stimulate economic activity and enhance tourism.

The market will be held on Wasfi Al-Tal Street as a new addition to the governorate’s tourism scene, drawing on Jerash’s standing as one of the oldest archaeological cities in the world and its prominent position on Jordan’s tourism map.

An announcement on the market’s opening date is expected soon, following the completion of final arrangements in coordination with the municipality and partners, to ensure the project serves as a supportive driver of tourism and a platform for community engagement in highlighting the city’s identity.
