Amman, Nov.16 (Petra) – The Jordan Society for the Prevention of Road Accidents (JSPRA) organized an event to commemorate the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims (WDR).
Inaugurating the event on Sunday, the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Transport, Fares Abu Dayyeh, called for maintaining concerted national efforts to reduce traffic accidents.
Abu Dayyeh also said reducing accidents requires "comprehensive" action involving all relevant institutions by strengthening community culture and traffic awareness, activating deterrent and monitoring mechanisms, and improving road infrastructure.
Additionally, he pointed to the necessity of raising the level of road safety by developing regulatory systems, installing necessary road signs, and regulating traffic flow within cities and on highways, which contribute to lowering accidents and protecting lives.
Concluding the event, the attendees affirmed the need for continued joint action among Jordan's official and civil society bodies to achieve a "safer" traffic environment nationwide.
Director of the Public Security Directorate's Traffic Department, Brig. Gen. Raed Assaf, and a number of officials from relevant agencies attended the event.
