Amman, December 20 (Petra) – President of President of the European Chamber of Commerce in Jordan (EuroCham Jordan), Ali Murad, said the European Union countries constitute a "key" economic partner for Jordan in terms of trade, investment, and the transfer of expertise and technology.

In remarks to "Petra" Saturday, Murad noted His Majesty King Abdullah II's directives have played a "fundamental" role in strengthening Jordan-EU economic and investment cooperation and opening broader horizons for joint partnership.

Murad added: "The Jordan-EU partnership relations are among the most advanced and well-organized, and are based on established cooperation and trade agreements that have contributed to enhancing trade exchange and improving the business environment in the Kingdom." Murad continued, "The Jordanian-European summit, which will be held next month, represents a significant milestone in strengthening the joint strategic dialogue and building on existing partnership relations to serve common interests and enhance economic and investment cooperation in the coming phase." The summit, he noted, reflects the European Union's appreciation for Jordan's "pivotal role as a stabilizing force and a reliable" partner in the region.

Murad indicated Jordan-EU economic relations are witnessing "remarkable" development in several sectors, mainly industry, renewable energy, information technology, and services.

Additionally, he noted the European market represents an "important gateway" for Jordanian exports due to its stability, high demand, and clear standards.

Murad stated: "Jordan and the European Union signed the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement in the beginning of this year, which constitutes a qualitative leap in the course of relations between the two sides." On its significance, he affirmed this agreement reflects European confidence in the Jordanian economy and supports the Kingdom's efforts to achieve sustainable development.

Murad added that the European Union's announcement of a €3 billion financial assistance package for the years 2025-2027, including €640 million in grants, €1.4 billion in investments, and approximately €1 billion in macroeconomic support allocations, will contribute to strengthening stability.

Murad said this support aims to stimulate investment and back the implementation of the priorities of the Economic Modernization Vision (EMV).

Regarding the increase in the Kingdom's exports to EU countries since the beginning of 2025, Murad considered this rise a "positive" indicator reflecting the improved competitiveness of Jordanian products and the growing benefits derived from preferential trade agreements.

Murad called for continued support for export sectors and enhancing their readiness to access European markets.

According to official data, national exports to EU countries increased by 39.3 percent during the first nine months of this year, reaching a value of JD436 million, compared to JD313 million for the same period last year.

The key products exported by Jordan to EU countries are clothing, fertilizers, pharmaceuticals, chemical products, and some agricultural products.

Murad pointed out that the EMV constitutes a "comprehensive" national framework for leading economic growth in Jordan during the coming phase, by focusing on stimulating investment, increasing exports, and creating sustainable job opportunities.

Murad noted the vision aligns with the priorities of the Jordanian-European partnership, particularly in the areas of the green economy, digital transformation, and supporting innovation.

Murad said this effort opens broader horizons for strengthening cooperation with European companies and investors and achieving the desired outcomes and a genuine added value to the national economy.

Murad noted EuroCham Jordan plays a "pivotal" role in strengthening economic and investment cooperation between the Kingdom and the European Union countries.

Murad stated this effort is fulfilled by building direct communication channels between businesspeople and economic institutions, holding bilateral meetings, economic forums, and trade missions, which contribute to familiarizing European companies with available investment opportunities in Jordan and supporting Jordanian companies in accessing European markets.

Murad added that the chamber also works to provide technical and advisory support to investors and transfer European expertise in the areas of innovation, sustainability, and governance.

Furthermore, he stated the chamber collaborates with official bodies and the private sector to contribute to improving the business environment and addressing challenges facing investment, which would enhance "competitiveness" of the national economy and encouraging establishment of long-term mutual partnerships.
