Amman, Dec. 11 (Petra) –Director General of Cities and Villages Development Bank (CVDB), Dr. Waseem Haddad, met with the team from the Water Sector Governance project – Climate Finance Component, to discuss ways to enhance cooperation in supporting the bank's readiness to access climate finance and develop its role in empowering municipalities within the water sector.

According to a CVDB statement issued on Thursday, Haddad commended the bank's "existing" partnership with the project, adding that current cooperation is a "cornerstone in advancing national efforts to develop sustainable and bankable enterprises." Haddad also noted the CVDB continues to develop its "institutional" tools in line with the requirements of international climate finance by strengthening strategic planning and enhancing technical capacities.

Funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), Haddad affirmed the partnership with the Water Sector Governance project comes at a "pivotal stage, as the bank works to enhance its "readiness and expand its capacity to access climate finance sources." This effort, he noted, will support Jordan's municipalities in developing projects that improve water resource management and strengthen resilience of local communities, as well as developing policies and procedures as a fundamental pillar for future work.

Both sides agreed to maintain joint coordination and enhance institutional and technical integration to support sustainable development and increase Jordan's access to climate finance.
