Amman, Dec. 9 (Petra) -- Relatively cold conditions will prevail across most regions on Tuesday, while milder temperatures continue in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba. Clouds will appear at various altitudes, and there is a chance of intermittent light showers in parts of the country. Winds will be moderate from the southwest.

According to the Jordan Meteorological Department, colder weather is expected on Wednesday, with skies ranging from partly cloudy to cloudy.

By midday, the country will begin to feel the impact of an extending low-pressure system, bringing scattered showers to the north and center and to parts of the southwest and east. Some rainfall may be accompanied by thunder. Southwesterly winds will be moderate, strengthening at times and raising dust in desert regions.

The pattern intensifies on Thursday, when cold and cloudy conditions will dominate. Rain is expected at intervals in the north, center, and southwestern regions, before extending to most parts of the country by evening and night. Some of the rainfall may become heavy, with the possibility of thunder and hail, leading to flash floods in valleys and low-lying areas, including the Jordan Valley and the Dead Sea. Winds will continue moderate from the southwest, becoming active at intervals and stirring dust.

The country will remain under the influence of the system on Friday, with cold, cloudy, and rainy conditions persisting across northern, central, and eastern regions. Thunderstorms are possible, while rainfall is forecast to weaken gradually during the night. Southwesterly winds will remain moderate, occasionally becoming active and raising dust in open areas.

Tuesday’s temperatures range between 15 C and 7 C in East Amman and 13 C and 6 C in West Amman. The northern highlands are forecast at 12 C–6 C, while the Sharah highlands are expected to record 11 C–4 C.

Desert regions will see 16 C–5 C and the plains 15 C–7 C. In the Jordan Valley, temperatures will reach 22 C–10 C in the north and 24 C–14 C in the south, while the Dead Sea is expected at 22 C–12 C and Aqaba at 22 C–12 C.
