Aqaba, Nov. 12 (Petra) – The Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) on Wednesday held a specialized workshop, themed: "Developing an Action Plan for Integrated Coastal Zone Management in Aqaba," in cooperation with the German Hanns Seidel Foundation (HSS).

According to an ASEZA statement, the event aims to review and update the previous plan and develop a comprehensive implementation strategy to protect and sustain coastal ecosystems, while improving the management of natural resources in the Gulf of Aqaba.

Nedal Ouran, ASEZA Commissioner for Environment and Public Safety, said the activity reflects the authority’s participatory approach to achieve sustainable coastal management under cooperation and coordination with all relevant institutions in Aqaba.

He noted the plan overhaul seeks to balance economic development needs with environmental protection, in line with ASEZA’s vision of adopting modern concepts, mainly blue economy, innovation, and community and youth engagement in natural resource management.

Ouran added that Aqaba has become a "national model for integrated coastal zone management, enhancing its environmental, tourism, and investment profile." In turn, Ehab Eid Advisor at HSS, said the workshop reflected the collaborative efforts of all concerned parties, citing consultations ahead of completing the updated plan, noting the workshop outcomes and feedback will be submitted to ASEZA for official adoption.
